Tribute To Celebrities Who Died Before Their Time

1. Actress Paula Yates, the former wife of Bob Geldof and lover of INXS front man Michael Hutchence, died of an accidental heroin overdose in the year 2000. Photo: Rick Stevens.

4. Marilyn Monroe with Baseball great Joe DiMaggio at their wedding in 1953. Marilyn Monroe was found dead of an overdose in 1962.

5. Actor and musician River Phoenix infamously died of a drug overdose outside of the Viper Room nightclub in LA in 1993.

7. Martial Artist Brandon Lee, son of Martial Arts Legend Bruce Lee, was shot and killed while filming a scene in the film The Crow.

8. Musician and former member of the Beatles John Lennon was shot and killed by a crazed fan outside the Dakota Building in New York in 1980.

9. Presdient John F. Kennedy was assasinated in Dallas, Texas on November 22 1963 by Lee Harvey Oswald.

11. The Doors front man Jim Morrison died in Paris in 1971 of a suspected heroin overdose.

16. Jimi Hendrix was found dead in his apartment in London after he asphyxiated on his own vomit. The doctor who pronounced him dead was the future leader of the Australian Greens, Dr. Bob Brown.

17. American rock artist, Janis Joplin was found dead in her apartment of a heroin overdose in 1970. Her ashes were scattered over the Pacific Ocean.

18. Actor James Dean died following a car crash in 1955.

19. Elvis Presley died of a heart attack in 1977 brought on by long term drug abuse.

21. The Big Bopper, J.P. Richardson was killed in the same tragic plane crash which claimed the lives of Richie Valen and Buddy Holly in 1959.

22. American Rock'n'Roll singer Buddy Holly was killed in a plane crash in 1959 along with Ritchie Valens and J.P. "The Big Bopper" Richardson.

23. Princess Diana was killed in a car accident in Paris in 1994.
