In A Heartbeat - 2011 NDP - Proud To Be In Singapore

WOW!!! What more can I say... every year the spectacular that is the celebration of Singapore's independence just gets bigger and better. I'm not just talking about the fireworks and performances - the emotion that this event inspires is enough to bring goosebumps to your skin and to cause the hair on the back of your neck to stand tall.

This year, the 'WOW' moment for me, was the end of the performance of the theme song, "In a Heartbeat", when the boy just ran full sprint across the stage to end in a huge hug... I'm not ashamed to say, that with tears blurring my vision, I reached down and picked up two kids and squeezed them tight with all of my might.

Anyone who witnessed the moment at this year's National Day Parade - Singaporean or otherwise - and was not absolutely moved, should urgently visit their local doctor for a heart check-up (to see if you still have one). :)

Congratulations Singapore, on this very special day!!

In A Heartbeat Lyrics (Complete) - Song by Sylvia Ratonel

I have a dream of starting a life
I have a hope, a flame alight
This is the moment, freedom is calling
This is my start, a new beginning

I have a heart, it beats for you
A step at a time, our spirit renew
Living together under the sun
Our hearts will beat as one

In a heartbeat, I’ll be there for you
In a heartbeat, no one else will do
In a heartbeat, we will always be
Together, united; you and me

In a heartbeat, time has passed us by
In a heartbeat, we will reach the sky
In a heartbeat, this will always be
Our people, our country
This is our family

Nothing will stand in our way
We can be strong today
The flame is alive
This is our life

In a heartbeat, I’ll be there for you
In a heartbeat, no one else will do
In a heartbeat, we will always be
Together, united; you and me

In a heartbeat, time has passed us by
In a heartbeat, we will reach the sky
In a heartbeat, this will always be
Our people, our country
This is our family

I live in China and I almost forgot that it's Singapore's National day.

Having read your blog post in detail, I hereby redeem myself.
