Unique Dining With Brother And Sister Team

A couple of weeks ago, we were invited for dinner by our good friend, the lovely, Ivy Woo. This time, it was to experience the unique cooking style of Chris Eng and his 21-years as an Executive Chef.

Chris opened 'Jade Garden' at the Chevrons Club with his sister, Jenny, just a few months ago.

The restaurant features over 300 cantonese dishes (including live seafood), and get this - they have a 'no pork or lard' policy... in fact, the daily Dim Sum menu is created with absolutely no pork!!

As well as sharing in some mouth-watering cuisine at truly affordable prices, Sammi, Jaime and I were taken aback with the wonderful presentation of each of the dishes, as can be attested to in the pictures below - Jaime loves these kind of tasting sessions, and is becoming quite the connoisseur, so I'll let him assist with the run-down on this unique dining experience in photographs... he had this scrumptuous seafood noodle as his main choice of the evening:

The rest of the menu in which we partook, began with Siew Mai ($4.20 for 4 pieces):

Followed by Deep-Fried Yam Stuffed with Minced Chicken ($3.80 for 3 pieces):

Next, we were tantalized, with the Chef Special Combination Platter ($12/pax):

A quick break for fresh juice:

and then it was on to the Braised Shark's Fin with Crabmeat & Dried Scallop in Pumpkin Soup ($18/pax; $45 [small], $68 [medium], $90 [large]) - I think Chef Chris must be a man after my own heart:

Sammi's choice for the pick of the evening, was the Cod Fish Baked with Miso & Sauteed Edamame ($14/pax):

A favourtite for all Singaporeans, Braised Sliced Abalone accompanied by Dried Scallop & Vegetables in Tan Jia Sauce ($18/pax):

One of the signature dishes of Jade Garden (and my personal favourite of the evening), Fresh Crab Claw with Japanese Somen ($12/pax):

We topped the night off, with a Combination Dessert Platter ($12), which was so well presented with dry ice creating the smoke effect... this was awesome, and the desserts themselves were even more amazing:

Don't just take my word for it though... take a short ride out to the Chevrons Club with your family and friends, and check out the delicacies from brother and sister team, Chris and Jenny!!

A very satisfied customer:

My parents said your children are really cute! And Sammi is even prettier in real life. =)

I laugh when I read this post now, coz I now know how much you love pork. Hahaha.. Gotta introduce this restaurant to my husband and see what he says. =)
