Controversial Fake Email - Hiroshima 1945 - Who Really Won The War?

Moral of the story...: Don't believe everything that you read!!

A friend recently sent me the photographs below embedded into an email.

The email was titled, "Hirsohima 1945 - Who Really Won The War?". I found this interesting enough (and the skyline pictures of the supposed 'modern Hiroshima' so awesome) that I've posted all the pictures here with the a hint of the original author's sentiments.

TRUTH EXPOSED: "A chain letter has been making the rounds that compares old pictures showing the devastation of Hiroshima by the 1945 atomic bombing with colorful night time pictures claiming to show it's current state. The same pictures and text have been republished on numerous blogs and personal websites. "

The truth is, this recent chain email is a blatant fake.

The set of 'current' pictures does not show Hiroshima at all. The pictures are actually of Yokohama (a wealthy port city near Tokyo) - about 670 km (420 miles) east of Hiroshima.

BACKGROUND:

During the final stages of World War II in 1945, the United States conducted two atomic bombings against Japan in the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

After six months of intense strategic fire-bombing of 67 Japanese cities the Hirohito regime ignored an ultimatum given by the Potsdam Declaration. By executive order of President Harry S. Truman the U.S. dropped the nuclear weapon "Little Boy" on the city of Hiroshima on Monday, August 6, 1945, followed by the detonation of the bomb "Fat Man" over Nagasaki on August 9. These are the only attacks with nuclear weapons in the history of warfare.

Disclaimer - these pictures are really of Yokohama (contrary to popular belief, as a result of the recent email chain)

MODERN DAY DETROIT (EASTSIDE) - 64 Years Later:

(Also known as "Motor City" - Click thumbnails to view full size pictures)

Detroit is the largest city in the U.S. state of Michigan and the seat of Wayne County. Detroit is a major port city on the Detroit River, in the Midwest region of the United States. Located north of Windsor, Ontario, Detroit is the only major U.S. city that looks south to Canada. It was founded on July 24, 1701, by the Frenchman Antoine de la Mothe Cadillac. Its name originates from the French word détroit for "strait", characterizing its location on the river connecting the Great Lakes.

WHO REALLY WON THE WAR??

The first upper left old building of Detroit presented here is in fact located in Warsaw, Poland at Waliców street. This building was part of the former small jew ghetto !!
